Job Description:


This is an IT Vendor Management position responsible to ensure vendor contracts and agreements meet the needs of the Service Owner organizations including renewal dates, contract language, and savings. This position works between the service owners and procurement to ensure the successful delivery of contracts and services from vendors. The incumbent provides guidance and results through collaboration with vendors to ensure service owner needs are met through the SRMP program.

Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.

  • This position requires a minimal amount of travel; up to 5% of work time.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an area of study relevant to this position or more than 5 years’.

  • Experience in large enterprise services delivery organizations.

  • Prior experience working with IT vendors preferred. Practical business relationship management skills. Practical IT service level management experience. Prior experience in supplier selection process, defining statements of work, working with 3rd party software or services in one or more areas of IT desired. Project management (Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt) experience and/or purchasing experience strongly desired.  

  • Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department."

Analysts participate in the contract lifecycle management process by assisting with the submission of demand to Procurement and monitor the progress of requests on behalf of service owners.

The IT Service Delivery Analyst works with IT Service Owners and procurement to ensure vendor contracts have appropriate language to delivery the needs of the business. Analysts work with the service owner teams on supplier RFx requirements, participate on teams working with or evaluating supplier technologies, and partner with procurement buyers and RBC, COE. Partner with procurement to deliver vendor contract savings through negotiations and project work.

The Analyst will also work with Service Owners and suppliers to build and enhance supplier relationship management.  

Additionally, Analysts participate and / or lead projects with service owners to acquire new or renew our contracts with suppliers.  This can involve strategic planning, negotiations, leading a program team to reach agreement with supplier on a purchase or renewal of a technology or service.  Responsibilities may also entail direct interaction with the supplier representatives, creation of supplier playbook, delivery of stakeholder presentations, and drafting of talking points for executive level supplier discussions. Communications to service owners and Director is frequently required.

Another key role of the Analyst is to support, participate in, or lead liaison roles with GIS Service Owners and teams. 

This work involves close collaboration on procurement requests and contract completion targets as part of the service owner business needs.  Working with Procurement to ensure contract dates and needs of the Service Owner are met. Weekly and monthly meetings are held with Procurement, GIS service owners and teams to monitor progress, plan ahead, and stay abreast of contractual needs.  Accurate reporting and business intelligence insights are key requirements of these roles to ensure data and requests are not lost and timely completion of the request occur.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Working collaboratively on cross division teams that are focused on continued process improvement.

  • Supplier cost and savings analysis

  • Assist in the development and deployment of Vendor Risk Management

  • Building and enhancing Supplier relationships through the SRMP process

  • Working within the identified Contract lifecycle management process to ensure GIS’s forecast is accurately reflected and that our contract document safe source is regularly reviewed and updated.

  • Engaging with 3rd party advisory firms to enhance Caterpillar’s market intelligence and negotiations strategies

  • Collaborating with Business Resources to assess in process negotiations

  • Candidate will have strong interpersonal relationship skills able to communicate and collaborate across the organization.

  • Ability to review and advise on contract language and drive cost savings.

  • Work directly with vendors on performance tracking and improvement.

  • Self starter and ability to work independently and with others to help run the SRMP program and contract management programs. Excel and Powerpoint skills are key collaboration skills along with the ability to learn and communicate new procurement systems.
