The Staff Accountant II will provide technical expertise and will perform more complex accounting work that supports business processes. Additionally, this position will:

  • have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures
  • apply accounting knowledge and provide guidance on accounting issues
  • participate on and lead teams

Incumbents are exposed to a variety of accounting functions and accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, review various outputs for reasonableness and advise other accountants. Incumbent works on challenging, medium to high risk issues and makes business decisions and recommendations as appropriate. Work is supported by a supervisor primarily through review of results.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Internal management accounting and analysis. supporting the North Little Rock Operations Management Team in all financial analysis and reporting
  • Estimating various forecast (RBM) and budget (ABP) scenarios as needed based on changing business conditions
  • Presentation and explanation of results to management
  • Cost accounting / decision support including: operations and/or product group budgeting and expense analysis, determining project Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), should cost and alternative analyses, investment sensitivity analysis, and Lease / Buy analyses
  • Financial accounting including preparation of journal entries, financial statements, and variance analysis
  • Inventory accounting and standard cost revision
  • Managing / coordinating the Capital approval process

Possible areas of support include:

  • Accountable Reporting
  • Cost Accounting / Decision Support
  • Legal Entity Reporting

Basic Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in accounting or finance OR any 4-year degree with an accounting certification
  • Willingness to relocate and be mobile minded
  • Excellent Initiative, Communication, Leadership and Interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of SAP

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent)
  • Experience with PowerBI and Axiom Reporting
  • MBA or Masters Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • 4+ years of Accounting experience
