We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Regional Transportation Procurement Manager.    

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear & Maintenance Components, e.g., Steel Products (Undercarriage and GET) and Specialty Products (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

The Opportunity:  

Manager for all open equipment transportation procurement activities in North America, including team management of three team members, and $250M+ of spend. 

Reporting directly to the Global Category Procurement Manager, this role is accountable for the development, communication, and implementation of regional sourcing for open equipment transportation in North America. The position is responsible for managing supplier performance, relationships, and agreements/contracts for their category segment; while collaborating with internal partners to create a competitive advantage for our customers and the enterprise by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply network. The position will require strong negotiation skills, comprehensive understanding of ground transportation networks, as well as excellent business acumen.  
 
This leadership role is expected to develop, coach, and engage personnel capable of delivering on the category strategy for the entire scope of North American open equipment procurement, while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards. 
 
Through a strong knowledge of the category, the incumbent will lead their team to fully understand the requirements for, and performance of, their supply base. Using strategic procurement approaches, the team will evaluate options, decide a course of action and effectively implement results-oriented sourcing events. 
 
The role requires a strong communicator capable of working solutions to complex problems for internal process partners and customers, keeping them informed of progress and working closely with them to ensure all requirements are met. Relationship building and management at senior levels with the suppliers is also expected that will foster trust, professionalism and continuous improvement.  
 
Basic Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or commensurate experience 

  • Minimum five years of job-related experience with regional responsibilities 

  • Regional sourcing knowledge and experience 

  • Complex strategic relationship management experience 

  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills  

  • Understanding of Lean principles

This position requires 25% or less travel.
