This position works under the guidance of the Global Marine Marketing Manager and is responsible for marketing communications strategy development and execution in the global marine governmental and defense segment.
The incumbent works within a matrix organization (product development, services, sales, etc.), Cat Defense (US) and closely with the global dealer network and Caterpillar’s key customers. He/she collaborates closely with the governmental and defense Segment Manager to help analyze trends, customer needs and competitive activities to develop a marketing communications plan to support global business development for the segment.
Identify, develop, and implement specific content, timelines and budget in support of the segment strategy. Measure, review and evaluate results of activities.
Translate customer insights into tailored, targeted, segment communications. Compile and analyze specific market data on historical sales, based on market intelligence data and research, enabling focused marcomm activities by customer clusters.
Identify targeted audiences and channels. Develop, coordinate, and implement targeted content and storyline through internal and external materials to position Caterpillar as the premier choice for key industry players and end-customers.
Materials can include success stories, press and product releases, interviews, customer presentations, speeches and presentations support for conferences, podcasts, etc. Ensure sound communication across multiple and appropriate media in line with the overall segment communications strategy.
Create promotional activities using events, fairs, online campaigns, print media, and other communication vehicles to promote products, services, and systems.
Build and manage relationships with key specialized media to secure and grow media coverage online and offline globally.
Support Caterpillar Marine’s go-to-market strategy for innovations (products, services, solutions) by highlighting the unique value proposition and position Caterpillar Marine as a solutions provider.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: The position requires a college or university degree in business/marketing or the equivalent job-related experience. Candidates must have a broad business background and have solid expertise in aspects of marketing communications.
