Job Title: EHS & Security Manager

Salary : £55,428-£69,273 depending on experience

Job Purpose:

To provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health and/or Safety & Security (EHS) activities related to a facility’s programs and plans.

Job Related Statistics:

  • Supervises two or more EHS staff and support personnel.

  • Manages 4 Caterpillar EHS & Security staff, 8 Waste management employees, 27 G4S security officers, 2 G4S receptionists

Job Duties/Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):

  • Reporting to this position are various levels of EHS staff and support personnel.

  • The incumbent needs to coach and facilitate the development of the work group to develop collaborative relationships among themselves, suppliers, other cross functional groups, and internal customers to ensure goals are achieved.

  • Incumbent needs a breadth of knowledge and experience including EHS regulations, programs, and policies.

  • Though organizations will vary, incumbent will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural

  • backgrounds.

  • Position requires people skills for coaching and leading people. This role requires that the incumbent increases understanding of processes and the related environmental, health and safety issues that need addressed. Develops and directs the implementation of programs to assure management takes the actions needed to raise employee awareness of risks and to reduce, avoid, and protect employees from hazards in the workplace, including occupational illness or disease, permits and programs that are required for protection of the environment.

  • Develops and directs programs to maintain and improve the general health of employees and/or environmental plans and programs.

Representative Activities:

  • Identifies common and more complex safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.

  • Investigates and implements new pollution control technologies.

  • Identifies training requirements and prepares presentations for training and communications at the facility, BU, and Corporate level as required.

  • Investigates and establishes standards for protective equipment.

  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards,

  • government regulations, ISO 14001 / ISO 45001, and adequacy relative to local conditions.

  • Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions and alerts line management to problems.

  • Generating and/or reviewing of reports for environmental (EPA) and safety (OSHA) agencies.

  • Accountable for strategic MGPP of EHS & Security, aligning to 2030 Environmental sustainability goals

  • Manages the onsite security team (G4S). Ensuring compliance with corporate requirements.

  • Manages waste management compound, ensuring corporate and legal environmental compliance e.g., legal consents and permits

  • Oversees compensation claim process for Caterpillar legal entity. Represents the business in court proceedings.

  • Supports contract negotiations for key contracts e.g., Security, Safety protection equipment and waste management.

  • Leads facility Safety reps program – 31 Caterpillar safety reps

Skills, qualifications, and experience that you must have:

  • College or university degree, or equivalent experience

  • Extensive Environmental, Health & Safety or related job experience

  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations

  • Experience leading a team

  • NEBOSH/IOSH qualification

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills

Skills, qualifications, and experience that you may have:

  • Strategy development, deployment, and governance

  • Project management and change management experience

  • On site security management and compliance with corporate requirements
