Job Description

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology (RISST) is seeking a Human Resources Manager, to be located at Caterpillar’s Mining Center in Tucson, AZ. This role serves as an HR business partner to senior commercial leaders with global organizations and will leverage local HR teams and HR shared services support to provide strategic support across these client groups. This role is responsible to ensure adherence to human resources policies and procedures while initiating HR process and program improvements. In addition, this role is an important member of the RISST HR team and ensures alignment and coherence with strategic business and people strategies.

Job Duties:

  • Actively participate as a functional manager and strategic partner on assigned teams, ensuring HR is an integral part of the business strategy.

  • Provides direction to Management in interpretation and application of employee-related policies, practices, and procedures, as well as international laws if applicable, governmental regulations, and internal reviews to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment. 

  • Manages and reports on people metrics including headcount, promotions, International Service Employees, and turnover.

  • Leads a variety of HR initiatives at a divisional level: strategic workforce planning, compensation administration, performance management calibration, etc.

  • Plays an integral part in the Employee Insights Survey (EIS) results through integrating cultural values in the day-to-day business activities.

  • Provides directives considering the impact upon the company (financial), employee engagement, and consideration for the future (new practices, policies, and procedures).

  • Researching, benchmarking, creating strategic initiatives, and designing implementation strategies to improve business unit results. 

  • Coordinating programs for management recruiting, training, selection, reward, and recognition. 

  • Assisting managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness matters.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years human resources job-related experience, preferably in a large, matrixed organization.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise good judgment.

  • Upholds strong Values and portrays a positive attitude to support positive employee relations.

  • Workday (HCM) Software experience is strongly preferred.

  • Advanced level experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to consider both traditional and non-traditional approaches to human resources management.

  • Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to influence others.

  • Broad knowledge of various HR functions including benefits, recruiting, employee relations, training, and development, workforce planning, compensation, and interpretation of company policies and procedures.

The location for this position is Tucson, AZ.

This position may require 20% travel.
