Job Description:

  • At Caterpillar, we value our people and are committed to providing challenging and fulfilling careers. Joining the Caterpillar technology team opens the door to a number of career opportunities that are not traditionally available in the mining sector.

Because of continued growth, we currently have exciting opportunities for new employees to break into the mining sector, whilst still going home each night and maintaining a great work life balance . We are supporting our customers Remote Operations Centre from Perth, meaning our team will still work a roster arrangement, but not have the burden of flying away from home for extended periods of time.

We are seeking motivated and versatile individuals to join our team in Queensland working with key customers at their remote operations centre. This role’s roster will align to that of our customers and may adjust based on which project you are currently focused on. As part of our onboarding process, you will go through a robust training program where you will learn all aspects of system operation, troubleshooting and application of autonomy to a mining environment.  Once you complete this training program, you will be well-positioned to support our customers in optimising system performance.

This role provides the opportunity to work along-side the world’s leading mining companies. Autonomy is a sophisticated investment, and the customers that use it are equally cutting-edge. This position gives management exposure to entry-level positions, as mining companies look to Caterpillar expertise to advise as best practices are implemented and new procedures are developed.

With a global company like Caterpillar, there are international opportunities available. MineStar® Command is utilized in three different continents and has support facilities all over the world. Training and operational experience is enriched by global site visits and international collaboration.

Once you complete your training program, your job duties may include (but not limited to):
    • Implementing MineStar® Command and maximise system performance.
    • Through close collaboration internally and externally, you will become a trusted advisor for the customer.
    • Supporting and advising MineStar® Command Office Supervisors, Builders, Controllers and Pit Technicians in all aspects of Minestar® system performance, including minimising downtime.
    • Providing technical support to MineStar® Command System on-board maintenance Supervisors and Technicians.
    • Supporting hardware and software installation and configuration through establishing Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
    • Measure, benchmark and report on MineStar® Command System performance, and suggest opportunities for improvements.
    • Developing training and process material.
    • * Training program is tailored to the individual; which may include 2 x 4 weeks class room training and on the job training and mentoring over a 6 to 12 month period.
    • Most Application Specialist work an 8/6 fifo or dido roster

To be successful in this role, you will require the following attributes:
    • Ready for a new challenge
    • Passionate about technology with some technical exposure
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong change management skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Mining experience
    • Customer relationship management
    • Data analytical
    • Problem solver
    • Exceptional time management
    • Ability to work autonomously  as well as part of a complex team
    • Must be a self-starter with sound organisation and prioritising skills

The following will be highly regarded, but not essential:
