The Investor Relations (IR) department is primarily responsible for communications and relationship management between the company and its investors and sell-side equity analysts. Key objectives for the group include promoting fair valuation of the company’s equity, organizing investor marketing and events, engaging with the investor base and providing insights to the company’s leadership team. Additionally, the IR team collaborates with our global finance organization and business units to flawlessly execute the quarterly earnings release process.

What You Will Do:

The Senior Director of Investor Relations is a critical team member accountable for managing the overall earnings process, crafting investor narratives and providing strategic oversight of shareholder engagement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the earnings release process: calendar development, cross-functional coordination, earnings script drafting, Q&A preparation, and post-earnings evaluation
  • Developing overall investor marketing and engagement strategy
  • Crafting key messaging and presentations to highlight the organization's strategy and financial results
  • Monitoring investor feedback, sell-side research, financial metrics and industry trends to analyze the investment community’s perception
  • Acting as primary back up to the Investor Relations officer including leading meetings with investors and research analysts
  • Managing relationships with buyside and sell-side analysts
  • Partnering with legal, finance and communications on compliant reporting and disclosures
  • Supervising sub team within the department

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or relevant fields and significant experience in equity research, valuation, corporate finance and / or investor relations
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Exceptional Communication: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Strategic Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail in a Fast-paced Environment: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision and speed.
  • Financial Modeling and Financial Statement Analysis: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results. Knowledge of financial statements; ability to analyze financial statement data and determine the value of a business.
  • Research Analysis: Knowledge of concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Master’s degree preferred (MBA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams
  • Extensive experience in investor relations, capital markets or financial reporting
  • Professional certificates or credentials such as CFA, CPA, etc.

  • The primary location for this position is at our Global Headquarters in Irving, Texas

Summary Pay Range:

$203,670.00 - $305,510.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
