Caterpillar is seeking a Logistics Engineer in Waco, TX. In this role, you will implement and continuously improve all logistics processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Applying process improvement tools and assisting with the implementation of efficient and competitive logistics solutions.

  • Coordinating with operations functions to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and improvements.

  • Maintaining the internal logistics process engineering standards, knowledge, and tools; Assuring their implementation in current and new operations.

  • Evaluating logistics processes and workflows, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for process-related concerns.

  • Data analysis on storage and productivity statistics

  • Warehouse storage design: Machinery & equipment design and procurement; workforce & equipment planning; logistics process design; inventory transfer & rearrangement planning; and integrating supply chain knowledge into warehouse design

  • Using knowledge of SAP to integrate this into the overall design of the facility

  • Support automation and modernization warehouse projects

  • Ensure projects are executed in a timely manner and completion timelines are adhered to

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

  • Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Highly proficient in SAP functional knowledge of logistics and warehouse management systems

  • Experience in SAP configuration, technical trouble shooting/problem solving, and associated hardware/software for daily warehouse transactional operations

  • Zebra, Bartender, Crystal Reports or other tag, barcode, QR printing software as well as printer problem resolution skills

  • Background in supply chain, logistics, industrial or mechanical engineering. Experience in warehouse storage and handling system design and implementation experience (such as traditional racking, handling equipment, processing area setup)

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Tableau, & AutoCAD

  • A degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or other Technical Degree or equivalent experience desired

  • Experience working with large data sets and data analysis

  • Building inclusive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to problem solve, set priorities and deal with uncertainty

  • The primary location for this position is Waco, TX.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
