The Role:

  • With limited supervision, support the global business with a focus on SOX Compliance within Caterpillar's captive finance subsidiary.
  • Partner and collaborate with finance and functional teams to ensure appropriate accounting, reporting, and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinate timely control testing, remediation, documentation, and reporting of internal controls and related accounting activities in accordance with the COSO framework and Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
  • Leverage technology to enable management to easily review global control deficiencies and remediation efforts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Partner with the business to drive sustainable process improvements in global financial reporting; provide recommendations for process simplification and standardization; and educate personnel on SOX and internal controls through training sessions, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Work closely with internal auditors, external auditors, and other financial professionals to ensure processes and controls are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Support enterprise-wide scoping and risk assessment activities to facilitate the assignment and testing of internal controls.

Degree Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline plus 18 credit hours of Accounting.

Skill Required:

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Knowledge of financial record keeping processes, methods, and tools; ability to maintain accurate and thorough records of financial transactions.
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

What Top Candidates Will Bring:

  • Holds a CMA and/or CPA qualification, bringing strong technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen, and a solid grounding in financial governance and control frameworks.
  • Proven experience across internal and/or external audit, with the ability to assess risk, strengthen controls, and provide independent, value‑adding insight to the business.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to engage confidently with senior leaders and influence decision‑making through clear, well‑structured financial and risk narratives.
  • Experienced working with global, cross‑functional teams, partnering effectively across finance, risk, compliance, and operational stakeholders in complex, matrixed environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

Summary Pay Range: $94,728.00 - $151,572.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

Additional information:

  • This position requires the successful candidate to work full time, 5 days per week in the Nashville office.

  • Relocation is available for this role.
