Monthly Base Salary: SAR 4,462 - SAR 5,200 (depending on experience)

About the role:

SPM Oil & Gas is developing in-Kingdom workshop capability to support flow iron, treating iron, and well service equipment used in critical oilfield operations. We are looking for multi-skilled, mechanically minded Workshop & Field Technicians who want to build long-term careers with a global energy technology leader.

This role is primarily focused on flow iron and treating iron inspection, maintenance, and full recertification cycles, while also supporting pump rebuilds and other SPM well service equipment as workshop demand requires

Role Summary

The Workshop Technician is responsible for the safe, compliant disassembly, inspection, repair, testing, recertification, and reassembly of SPM and customer-owned equipment, including:

  • Flow iron and treating iron
  • High-pressure connections and valves
  • Well service and frac-related equipment
  • Selected pump components and assemblies

All work is performed in accordance with SPM and Caterpillar Safety, Quality, and Operational Standards, as well as Saudi Aramco and local regulatory requirements where applicable.

What You Will Do

Flow Iron & Treating Iron (Primary Scope)

  • Perform full recertification cycles on flow iron and treating iron, including:
    • Complete strip-down and cleaning
    • Detailed visual and dimensional inspection
    • Identification of erosion, corrosion, deformation, or damage
    • Repair or replacement of components as required
    • Correct reassembly and torqueing in line with procedures
  • Conduct and support pressure testing and functional testing of iron, connections, and assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, test, and certification records, including serial numbers and traceability.
  • Prepare recertified equipment for storage or dispatch in line with preservation and load-out standards

Pump & Well Service Equipment (Secondary / Development Scope)

  • Support pump maintenance and rebuild activities (e.g., frac or well service pumps) under guidance from senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Assist with:
    • Mechanical strip-down and rebuild activities
    • Replacement of wear components
    • Alignment, assembly, and basic inspections
  • Gain exposure to wider SPM well service equipment, building capability as an all-round workshop technician.

Workshop Operations & Safety

  • Work strictly in compliance with SPM / Caterpillar HSE, quality, and process controls.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, tool control, and workshop organisation.
  • Correctly use lifting equipment, pressure test equipment, and calibrated tools.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or non-conformances.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work effectively as part of a workshop team to meet turnaround time and quality targets.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding job status, technical findings, and parts requirements.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning, skills development, and cross-training

What Will Put You Ahead (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Saudi National.
  • Diploma, vocational qualification, or practical apprenticeship in mechanical, industrial, or oilfield maintenance.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a workshop, plant, or oilfield environment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (tools, torqueing, inspection techniques, basic drawings).
  • Ability to follow procedures and work safely in a pressure-equipment environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–5 years’ hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
    • Flow iron / treating iron
    • Frac or well service equipment
    • Valves, pressure control equipment, or pumps
  • Exposure to pressure testing, recertification, or inspection processes.
  • Prior experience working to oil & gas or Saudi Aramco standards is an advantage.
  • English speaking & reading ability (technical procedures and training materials)
