We have an exciting position open within Caterpillar as a Business Manager for the Large Engine Power Systems Division (LPSD). In this role you will be a part of the LPSD Product Strategy & Support team and will provide critical support for Core Components Team, including contract negotiations and value stream support, and the LPSD Tech Center. Please note, this role will not have any direct reports at this time but will utilize our greater LPSD matrix organization to provide analysis and insights to your business partners.

What You Will Do:

  • Providing strategic counsel and support for the development and execution of supplier contract strategy for core components
  • Developing rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations, ensuring strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations.
  • Developing formal documentation of divisional strategy processes, as well as process monitoring and improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific action
  • Presenting research and analysis findings, competitor analysis, financial forecasts and key insights to the senior management, and assisting them in making strategic decisions.

What You Have:

  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Finance and Accounting: Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Organizational Governance: Knowledge of the processes, customs, policies, and rules affecting the way the organization is administered and controlled; ability to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and policies.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Financial Forecasting and Modeling: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or engineering.
  • MBA or Master's Degree in a business-related field preferred
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • This position requires a strong level of strategic analysis, problem solving, business acumen and governance background.

Additional Info:

  • This position will be located in our Mossville, IL or Lafayette, IN office
  • This role is a full time role and currently requires 3 days a week in office
