We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as an  Operations Automation Technician (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Shift) in Clayton, OH

The  Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Summary: 

  • This Operations Automation Technician (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Shift) supports and maintains robotic and automated systems.

Additional Info :

  • This role is in Clayton OH and does not offer relocation
  • There are 3 openings for this role for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Shift:
    • 1st shift : Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
    • 2nd shift : Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm
    • 3rd shift : Sunday-Friday 11pm-7am
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
  • This role requires up to 10% domestic travel

What You Will Do:

  • Troubleshooting robotic and automated systems; performing preventative maintenance and ad hoc maintenance tasks.
  • Partnering with support teams on application / software troubleshooting.
  • Trains end users and maintains routine operation of applications.

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Quality Management : Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Mechanical/Machinery : Knowledge of machines and tools; ability to use knowledge of machinery or mechanical objects including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Technical Troubleshooting : Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.
  • Knowledge of Robotics : Knowledge of designing, programming, and operating robots for various applications; ability to utilize programming languages and robotics knowledge to automate the necessary operations of the organization.
  • Industrial Automation/Automatic Control : Knowledge of various industrial automatic control systems, processes and methodologies in a manufacturing environment; ability to design, implement and maintain automatic production systems/processes to improve productivity and efficiency, as well as minimize human intervention.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • General level knowledge with autonomous systems of robotics (AutoStore, self driving vehicles, FANUC Robots, or other ASRS type systems)
  • Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Able to effectively communicate across multiple parts of the organization and vendors
  • Experience working with warehouse management systems such as EWM (Extended Warehouse Management)
