SPM Oil & Gas A Caterpillar Company currently has an opening for an CNC Service Technician located in Fort Worth, TX.  Relocation is offered for this position.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Perform advanced CNC repairs and replacements involving ball screws, spindle monitors, spindles, main spindle bearings, etc.

  • CNC machine leveling and alignments.

  • Knowledge of CNC Controls such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Okuma OSP, and Mazatrol. (Including troubleshooting and repair)

  • Resolving any type of electrical or mechanical troubleshooting and repair to all plant equipment such as Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Saws, Presses, and other process controls.

  • Coordinate with production personnel to resolve machining/scrap issues.

  • Understand the operation of each component of CNC mills, lathes, and saws. Must also be able to properly measure and size replacement parts for each.

  • Identify motor full load amperages and determine proper fuse and thermal overload protection.

  • Demonstrate leadership and guidance during advance repairs and troubleshooting.

  • Recognize and recommend preventative and predictive maintenance action items.

  • Read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, identify and order electrical parts, and troubleshoot for faults and make repairs

  • Read hydraulic diagrams, troubleshoot, and repair from the print.

Basic Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree in a technical field preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Recognize and recommend preventative and predictive maintenance action items.

  • Read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, identify and order electrical parts, and troubleshoot for faults and make repairs

  • Read hydraulic diagrams, troubleshoot, and repair from the print.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret schematic drawings, procedure changes, and work orders.

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS experience (both mobile and desktop variants) 

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Must be able to wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses and any other required proper protective equipment. 

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
